Most of his music, meanwhile, is over a century old. In 2024 we will celebrate his 150th birthday. And yet his name alone still provokes visceral reactions. It is something that Schoenberg always faced. Even in life, he had to take inordinate amounts of vicious reactions from the public. Why is that anyway?
