Around the world with Steve Reich

Quite a few minimal music composers drew inspiration from non-Western musical cultures. Including Steve Reich: he nurtured a special affinity with African percussion, Indonesian gamelan and Hebrew cantillation. His composition Music for 18 Musicians is a key work of his application of Balinese gamelan music. Curious about more?
