Around the world with Steve Reich

Many composers of minimal music drew inspiration from non-Western musical cultures. This includes Steve Reich, who has a particular affinity for African percussion, Indonesian gamelan and Hebrew cantillation. His composition *Music for 18 Musicians* is a key work demonstrating his use of Balinese gamelan music. Fancy finding out more?
