Gert François x Timpani Concerto

On 15 March, we perform the premiere of Wim Henderickx's Timpani Concerto conducted by Giancarlo Guerrero. Our own timpanist - and good friend of Wim - Gert François will take on the challenging part.

"It is not an obvious work to perform, the concerto requires a variety of playing styles. But the part is really phenomenal, as far as Wim's writing for timpani is concerned, I haven't yet come across anyone to match him. ... Then, when the Timpani Concerto came up, Guerrero promptly responded "that's mine"."
