reading list: Beyond Silence

Silence is to a composer what an empty canvas is to a painter, or a blank sheet of paper to a poet. A tabula rasa. In the concert Beyond Silence, we meet two composers: Giya Kancheli, the Georgian master of melancholy and stillness, and Arvo Pärt, the Estonian composer of spiritual simplicity and intense silence.
