Explanatory note: Beyond Silence

On 11 September 2025, the Estonian composer Arvo Pärt will turn 90. To mark the occasion, Flagey, together with various choirs and ensembles, will pay tribute to the body of work of Estonia’s most famous composer. For four days, his compositions will resound through the studios of this iconic building, with his musical and spiritual sources of inspiration serving as a common thread. The Flemish Radio Choir and the Kebyar Saxophone Quartet will juxtapose Pärt’s *Miserere* with an intense plea for human solidarity by his contemporary Giya Kancheli (1935–2019).
