Verdi: Requiem

Opening concerts on 26–27 — advance ticket sales begin

The greatest opera Verdi never wrote, the most dramatic sacred music ever composed

4 April 2026
Book your tickets from today for Verdi: Requiem with the Brussels Philharmonic and the Flemish Radio Choir, conducted by Kazushi Ono, on 26 & 27 September at Flagey.

Verdi’s Requiem stands on a par with Mozart’s: written by a genius (in the words of Johannes Brahms), overwhelmingly grand yet surprisingly intimate, encompassing the full spectrum of human emotion.

From the Dies Irae, which thunders down ominously, to the painfully beautiful Requiem Aeternam: the scale and scope are immense, the emotional expression breathtakingly broad. And despite its liturgical structure, Verdi managed to make the two great themes of every requiem — fear and hope — tangible and accessible, for believers and non-believers alike.
