This Sunday, Flemish Radio Choir mezzo soprano Eva Goudie-Falckenbach heads to the church on Place Saint-Gilles for a vocal coaching session with the Brussels-based Ravekoor. Every Sunday evening, the group of young enthusiasts gathers there, seeking connection through singing together – an initiative warmly supported by the Flemish Radio Choir.

The Ravekoor is anything but conventional. ‘We’re atypical compared to other choirs, because we also sing during demonstrations in the streets, or at five in the morning in nightclubs,’ explains founder Thomas Bogaert. Their repertoire is just as wide-ranging: ‘We sing everything from Bach to original compositions and plenty of improvisation,’ adds co-founder Mien Heyvaert. Their unconventional and inspiring approach is a powerful reminder of music’s ability to bring people together.

Radiokoor atelier

With the Atelier programme, the Flemish Radio Choir aims to reach singers of all ages and backgrounds. Through workshops and masterclasses, coaching and residencies, collective singing and open rehearsals, we seek to strengthen voices and explore new musical horizons together.
