Christ-mass: programme notes
heavenly vocal harmonies, a warm soprano saxophone, and traditional Christmas carols - read the programme notes by Aurélie Walschaert
Carols by choirs of angels, it’s a sure-fire recipe for success over the Christmas period. And don’t worry, these classics will be there this year too. But as always, the Vlaams Radiokoor also likes to come up with something a little more unexpected.
So they are going to fill the coldest and darkest winter days with the lightness of the Son of God Mass. A unique work by British composer James Whitbourn that combines heavenly vocal work with the warm woodwind sound of the soprano saxophone. A special combination of colours that no stained glass window can match.
